Be Paul for Someone

I feel certain that every preacher has those moments when they because of self-awareness, self-doubt, discouragement, or adversity of some sort thinks about quitting preaching. Some much more often than others. I’m sure there are some who rarely consider quitting, either because they refuse to allow themselves to think about it, or because they have such a high-esteem that they rarely have self-doubt. While I am thankful for you, this is for those tempted to quit who don’t. Some passages make me wonder if Paul could identify with you? He wasn’t going to quit, but it sure must have been tempting at times. Thank you for hanging in their.

We’d like to ask something of you this week. Call a fellow minister. Do it randomly. Maybe pick the first preacher in your contact list, or the last one, or the one not kin to you whose name comes closest to yours. Encourage them. Tell them you are praying for them (and do it). Pray with them. Let them know you appreciate something about their work.

As you look at the life of Paul and the people he surrounded himself with, fellow-laborers, fellow-servants, brothers, fellow-prisoners, sons, saints, co-workers, you know they refreshed him, encouraged him, helped him to continue in the Lord’s Work. There are others out there like you. They need a voice to tell them to keep on. Today, be like Paul, help someone go forward!
