Easy-Peasy
Easy-Peasy
I love preaching to preachers. As my granddaughters say: “It’s easy-peasy.” While I’m sure it’s not universally true for everyone of us, we’re, for the most part, a pretty easy lot to figure out. We want people to go to heaven. We want Christians to treat each other as brothers and sisters. We want their reputation to be that of one who follows Christ. We want to make enough money to take care of our families but we didn’t get in this to get rich. We want to have influence so that we can influence. We want our Shepherds to lead, and to do so with love.
When we are talked to each of us understands the common hurts from the darts thrown at us feels. Each of us are touched by the story of every person who comes to Christ. Each of us are concerned about our families and what may happen to them in the future. Each of us have a fear that we might be the next sad story of a preacher who got fired unjustly. Each of us wishes the church we work with would reach more people for Christ.
Every preacher I know hurts when someone leaves the congregation they work with, but is nearly crushed when one leaves the Lord. But is even more crushed over their own sins. Every preacher mourns the state of our nation. Every preacher weeps over a lost soul they could not reach.
Easy to understand. But simple does not mean we’re simplistic.
I praise God for each of you who so serve. I’m thankful for your heart. Thank you for hanging in there.
