A Prayer For Humility

Dear Father in Heaven,

Today, we pray that you will protect your preachers from themselves. Help all of us who preach remember that our preaching is not about us. Help us to rid our hearts of arrogance. Help us not to speak to people in an arrogant or condescending manner. Help us to remember that we are not better than the people who hear us. Dear Father, may we never forget that the Good News we proclaim is not our Gospel, but it is Your Gospel. Help us to remember that we didn’t originate Your Word, we didn’t scheme Your Plan, and we didn’t write Your Message. May all of Your preachers remember that we are under the authority of Your Word, not over it. Dear God, may all of us who are Your messengers remember that we are clay pots that You use to carry the Word. Please remove any pride from our hearts and allow us to humble ourselves before You as we preach Your Word.
